when i open the add-ons manager, it does not open where i left it. nor does it open at a consistent location!

sometimes it opens in the bottom-left corner of the screen. sometimes it opens in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

it should open centered vertically and horizontally. or it should persist the last location the user set it to. at the very least it should open consistently in the *same* place.
Just checked and it persists for me
On Linux?
On Windows (Windows 7 to be exact). Do you see this with any other windows like the download manager or preferences?
I haven't noticed it on other windows, but I don't open them much.

I've never noticed this on Win7 or Mac, only Linux.
It would be good to know if it does this with the download manager and / or preferences since I believe they still use essentially the same code.
I'm experiencing this issue with different Mozilla based applications, ie Firefox, Thunderbird and Instantbird, an IM client based on the Mozilla framework.

The OS is Ubuntu 9.10 here with default settings concerning window/desktop behaviour. It seems to me that it is the window manager (or whatever is responsible) trying to make windows overlap as little as possible.

Example/STR:
1) move a window to the upper left side and resize it that there is some space between the right window border and right desktop border.
2) Start Firefox, resize the window that it can fit in between the border of the other window and the desktop border.
3) Close and restart Firefox while keeping the other program open (it will serve as 'spacer').

Result: the Firefox window is moved as much as possible to the top and left so that it not overlaps with anything. If that's not possible in this case, it would have been moved as much as possible to the lower right corner.

A very irritating behaviour as I usually expect my windows where I close them.
Some other programs behave similar, while others don't. A mess, but maybe not a Mozilla problem.

By the way: Bug 445674 seems to be about the same issue.
Yes, this is not about the add-ons manager, nor Firefox alone. It can afflict any window in any Mozilla-based application I use on Ubuntu.
Component: Add-ons Manager → Widget: Gtk
Product: Toolkit → Core
QA Contact: add-ons.manager → gtk
Not sure if this is the right product+component, but makes more sense than Firefox::AddonsMgr.
I have similar issues on Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 with both FF dialogs and add-on dialogs. On one WinXP SP3 machine it never happens but does on all of my other machines.

One add-on that is consistent is the Gmail-notifier. The logon dialog will move to the lower right hand corner of my screen after about the 7th or 8th logon.

Bug 625083 is similar and I've just duped it here. It appears that the position of the library window & the browser console windows are still not remembered, even with the latest FF nightly on Linux.
Summary: window position is not persisted → [Linux] window position is not persisted
Severity: normal → S3
